Pumpkins and Apples

I found this new product at Whole Foods yesterday. This natural applesauce in a pouch is perfect for me, because I can use a little bit in my oatmeal and then reseal it. This comes in apple and apple strawberry flavors. I bought the apple strawberry and it was delicious. When I was reading the product site, I discovered that the pouches were designed by NASA. Check out the Materne website.

Of course, the applesauce made me start to wonder about pumpkin/apple combinations. I couldn't find any pumpkin applesauce recipes, but I did find these intriguing recipes for pumpkin apple butter.

Cool! Can you let us now how long it stays good for. I find that when I buy applesauce in a jar it gets moldy really quickly.

YUM! Does the apple strawberry have real strawberries or just flavoring? I am so sad because I don't have a Whole Foods nearby. I hear about all these great products that my markets don't carry!

Meg, I've been meaning to catch up with you for days, but that Joust thing took over my life.

Loved your guest blog at Florida Foodies! Every Mother's Day my kids dress up in my aprons and deliver a handwritten menu to me in bed and then cook whatever I choose. Of course I always choose the easiest thing that will still make them proud.

I'm so using won ton wrappers next time I make ravioli. Thanks for the tip!

Looks like a fun product.

I love apple butter and I love pumpkin butter, but I've never thought to combine the two. Great idea :)

That does look great. I would totally put that in my oatmeal too, and maybe some vanilla if I'm feeling crazy :)
