WOW! What a Dinner!

(I love this picture because you can see the steam rising!)

This was one of the most satisfying meals I have ever eaten. Have you guessed what it is yet? It is unstuffed cabbage. It is really easy to make and cooks up quick. Every bite is a combination of sweet and savory tastes. I love allspice, and the fresh dill added just the right amount of flavor. I used pieces of Amy's Bistro Burgers instead of the veggie crumbles. If you don't want to make it too sweet, you can decrease the brown sugar. I liked it with the amount stated in the recipe. The polenta was a great pairing for this dish. Here is the recipe, which can also be viewed on the allrecipes website: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Unstuffed-Cabbage/Detail.aspx

5 cups shredded cabbage
1 (12 ounce) package vegetarian burger crumbles
2 (14.5 ounce) cans Italian-style stewed tomatoes
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped fresh dill
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
freshly ground black pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:
Heat a large skillet over a medium heat.
Stir in cabbage and let it cook 4 minutes; or until wilted and lightly browned.
Stir vegetarian burger crumbles, tomatoes, lemon juice, brown sugar, dill, allspice, and pepper into the mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil, cover and reduce the heat to low.
Let the mixture simmer 5 minutes before serving.
