Hawaiian Baked Bean Soup

I have seen various recipes for baked bean soup on several food blogs. I decided to add a little twist based on a Hawaiian Baked Beans recipe. I guess if you add pineapple to anything, you can call it Hawaiian. This is a hearty soup with a very sweet and tangy flavor. It is very easy and quick to throw together. It would probably taste good with diced ham in it.

Hawaiian Baked Bean Soup

1 can baked beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup chopped green peppers
1/4 cup crushed pineapple, drained

Saute onions and peppers until tender. In a saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 15 minutes.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the rule. If it has pineapple it's Hawaiian. Heh. Looks good, I'll have to send it to my vegetarian sister, she is always complaining that she can't eat anything I make. :)

Ooh, what a unique twist on bean soup.
If you want to really make it Hawaiian, skip the ham and add Spam! Spam's a big deal over there. ;)

I like calling something Hawaiian just by adding pineapple to it :) I'll go to the tropics anytime you want, Meg.

How creative! I love grilled pineapple rings so I bet I would love this, too! I just never think of pineapple outside the summer months or at aster (pineapple rings w/ the ham).
